The Museums goal
This museum will generate jobs and, with time possible, more businesses to help to increase tourism to the area. This part of Texas has a unique history that needs to be told. We need to start somewhere and we find people from other areas that are interested in our history. This history will be lost if we do not do anything to improve the way we show people how they can experience it. When visiting other museums, we have learned that the “WOW” factor must be there to attract more visitors. This take a strong community and the proper funding. In this community, we have that German drive not to give up. For over one hundred years, we as a community have been able to change with the times. We can show this to future generations that it is always possible.
The museum was first started in 1923 and in recent years have become stagnant. We have started new programs to develop a museum for all ages and likes. This program will interact with children of all ages to experience what this area was made up of in earlier days. Hands on exhibits and science experiments will help those people to understand why the past experiences of the early people have developed the area into what it is today and into the future.
